Who We Are

Brent obtained his B.Sc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Calgary in 1989.  He is a registered Professional Member (P.Eng.) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) and an Associate Member, Canadian Gas Processors Suppliers Association.  The first 25 years of Brent’s career was with Propak Systems Ltd, working in the EPC area of oil and gas, serving as a Process Design Engineer, Engineering Manager and as a Business Director.  He gained experience in sales, marketing, project development and business development.   His solid knowledge base was built in process engineering and design, detailed engineering, project management, technology development, contract negotiations, commissioning and operations support.

Moving to Enbridge Inc. in 2014, the role as Director of Commercial Integration – Canadian midstream division, gave him the opportunity to direct the midstream business unit’s project development, acquisitions technical due diligence, major project execution and asset operations engineering support.  Three years later, Brent started ChemEdge Engineering Ltd, a Calgary based company specializing in natural gas processing technology, project management, operations support and development of artificial intelligence advanced process control.

He has 31 + years of direct work experience in oil and gas processing on 40 + EPC and EPFCm projects, both as a technical expert and a leader in project designs, execution and integration for many gas process facilities in the USA, Canada, Central and South America, Middle East, Russia, China and other Asian countries.  Brent has overseen business development, process design and client relations on major natural gas processing projects up to a 2 billion dollar project value.

Brent is a developer of industry leading and proven process technology in cryogenic turbo expansion NGL recovery and LNG Liquefaction.  He authored a patent for his prior employer, described in “System and Method for Liquefied Petroleum Gas Recovery

Tony is an established leader with 40+ years of experience in the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Management (EPCM) sector of the oil and gas industry. He was the Vice President of Engineering at Propak Systems, managing an integrated engineering and drafting team for over 200 staff in Canada. He also has an extensive international experience, working on projects throughout North and South America, Africa, and China. He later established offices and became the Managing Director of Asia Operations. He now brings in his excellent background to ChemEdge, acting as the company’s Chief Operating Officer.

Tony’s success stems from his solid technical background, exceptional project management skills, shrewd business sense, and tactful people skills. In additional to graduating with an MSc in Chemical and Petroleum Refining Engineering from Colorado School of Mines, Tony has always been keen in advancing his technical abilities and acquiring practical hands-on experiences. He has a thorough understanding of the various types of projects from design to operations. He has experience in a full range of EPC projects: from basic gas plant to more complex plants with various sweetening units, cryogenic LPG recovery, LNG plant, gas injection, well site compression requirements, and gas treating for heavy oil operations; not just on-shore but also off-shore.

His exceptional project management skills originate from his solid understanding of the whole process from design to operation, all the necessary logistics and regulations, and lastly his stringent control of cost and time. He is known to be able to deliver results even under challenging situations for both domestic and international projects.

Tony’s experience allows him to acquire more business opportunities and improve project cost and efficiency. When heavy oil started to be in demand, Tony looked to modify the company’s technology to suit the heavy oil requirements. He set up a Heavy Oil Division from conception to full operation. He brought 3-D modelling to full operation with the use of skid modularization concept to improve efficiency and transportability.

Tony is tactful and open-minded when dealing with people. He is willing to listen to sort out the differences and determine the needs of others. With this skill, he is good at bringing people from different cultures together. He will tirelessly seek better ways to find solutions to clients’ problems and use new technology to improve quality and efficiency.

He is an active member of APEGA and was a Permit Holder for 10 years.  Tony was also a member of AICHE.
